Initial situation

Maison Wessman, founded by Robert Wessman, combines two exclusive vineyards in France: Château de Saint-Cernin in Bergerac and Vignoble des Verdots near Conne-de-Labarde, complemented by Chardonnay vineyards in Limoux (La Serpent).

The founder, a native of Iceland, is a visionary who works with top winemakers such as his close friend Andreas Larsson to create unique cuvées and champagnes.

 

Strategy & implementation

Sustainability and craftsmanship are at the heart of the business: winemaker Lise Sadirac works organically, promotes biodiversity and focuses on gentle viticulture. Wessman One champagne (Brut & Rosé) comes from Premier Cru vineyards in Aÿ and the Côte des Blancs.

Artistic collaborations such as the Kaleo line and Norah Jones' ‘This Life’ Crémant & Rosé combine music, wine and emotional brand management.

Maison Wessman – Vision and Partnership

Robert Wessman is an Icelandic entrepreneur with a passion for wine who has set himself an ambitious goal: to revive the Bergerac and Limoux wine regions in southern France. With considerable investment and great personal commitment, he combines excellent terroirs and thousands of years of history with visionary ideas and state-of-the-art expertise.

A central component of his mission is his collaboration with the world's best sommelier, Andreas Larsson (World's Best Sommelier 2007). Together, they are dedicated to answering the question: what happens when the world's best sommelier devotes himself to the world's best sparkling wine?

Robert also maintains close partnerships with international artists such as Norah Jones and JJ Julius Son (Kaleo). These special collaborations connect the world of wine with music and culture, giving Maison Wessman an extraordinary charisma.

 
The implementation of this vision is in the hands of a top-class team. Lise Sadrac, the winery's operations manager, stands for state-of-the-art viticultural practices: from careful yield regulation and hand harvesting to strict double sorting, always with the aim of achieving the highest quality. In the cellar, she works closely with Julien Viaud (Rolland & Associés). The wines are aged for 10 to 18 months in French oak barrels before the final cuvée is created.
 
The final blend is defined by a discerning committee consisting of Lise, Julien and Andreas Larsson, under the supervision of Robert Wessman himself. This close connection between viticulture, cellar work, sommelier expertise and artistic partnerships makes Maison Wessman unique.
